LP Lexicon Podcast 005: Secret Origin

Episode: 005
iTunes

Artist: Joe.

Album: N/A

Show notes: First off, something went wrong with the last track, I don't quite understand it yet, but I'm looking for different audio. Here is the online version which I put up all those years ago.

There was a different version of Sad Machine, too, which I preferred. I'll dig it out, and I think I'm going to put a selection of the best tracks on BandCamp.
-Edit: Album on BandCamp, now!

This episode was part inspired by episodes 4 and 5 of my friend Scott's podcast, Just Jump To The End. Find them here. Also, the blog entry which JSarge wrote can be found here.
-Edit #2: JSarge and I have released new music, on the Irving's Basement BandCamp. Comfort Problems, Close To Me.

And for posterity, the link to my book is here (Softcover, hardcover and E-book).

I enjoyed recording this episode a lot, but I'll be glad to get back to recording 006 with my wife on Saturday.

Album: Oracular Spectacular

Show notes: My friend Guy hornswoggled me into letting Denisse pick this week's album. Which proves constant bitching works. Not that I don't trust Denisse's judgement, but I have already mapped out the upcoming weeks albums (Hoping that one upcoming week goes ahead as planned as I am still awaiting a delivery for conversation while we listen to the pod; but it will be worth it).

Here is Los Jaivas - Alturas de Machu Picchu which I talked about. Set faces to stunned.

Still working on format. I need to write stuff down as we record, so I can link you to things later on.

Best,

Joe

LP Lexicon Podcast EP 003: Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are DEVO! by DEVO.

Episode: 003
Download: Link.
Soundcloud: Link.

Artist: DEVO.

Album: Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are DEVO!
Wiki: Link.

Show notes: Another short one to round out the week; PJ Harvey's White Chalk and this, both at around 33/34 minutes.

I still don't know where I saw DEVO on TV for the first time. I know where I was, but I don't know where it was recorded. I thought it was in Santiago, Chile, but Denisse said they haven't played there yet. I did enjoy that performance, though. That led me on to playing DEVO all that time since. When you consider it was a three-minute live video, that takes a lot in this day and Age.

My old pal Guy says I should let Denisse choose some albums; she has picked some upcoming albums, but depending upon delivery of new (old) material, I don't know when we will get to them, as I have certain albums planned for certain episodes. But she has picked some, and one of them was Pink Floyd which we will get around to soon .. Promise!

But for now, thanks for listening. We're having fun, trying to iron out the kinks, set up a format. Waiting for iTunes, too.

Best,

Joe.

LP Lexicon Podcast EP 002: White Chalk by PJ Harvey

Episode: 002
Download: Link.
Soundcloud: Link.

Artist: PJ Harvey.

Album: White Chalk.
Wiki: Link.

Show notes: Just a quick one for today; I was looking for something as opposed to OK Computer as could be for the second pod, and after a few days I decided on White Chalk, but was saddened that it was only 33 minutes or so in length. So hopefully we will have another episode up this week, once we figure out which album it will be.

Thanks for listening!

LP Lexicon Podcast EP 001: OK Computer by Radiohead

Episode: 001
Download: Link.
Soundcloud: Link.

Artist: Radiohead.

Album: OK Computer.
Wiki: Link.

Show notes: When I had the idea for this pod, the albums which immediately went through my mind were my favourites, which I had been asked about, by a friend, at the weekend. The list is as such:

The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness.

Blur - 13.
Kate Bush - Never For Ever.
Radiohead - The Bends.
Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage.
Tori Amos - Under The Pink.
Pink Floyd - The Final Cut.
Mansun - Six.
Laura Nyro - New York Tendaberry.
The Specials - The Specials.

You may as well ask, "Well? Where is OK Computer?"

I was going to put it in, but my Top 10 favourite albums can be any one of 75 albums. OK Computer is definitely up there, but I went with The Bends, which I had played several days previously.

I loved the idea of OK Computer being 001 on the LP Lexicon Podcast, though. It is a truly exceptional album. If you don't know it, search it out, and enjoy it. Once you know it, play it with the podcast playing over it!

Here are the albums I have of OK Computer. The CD, I bought in 1997, the LP I bought and my friend told me off for paying too much for it in 2002/3, and the recent 3 disc remastered reissue.

Here is the image in the magazine that I thought was amazing, taken at the time, OK Computer was being recorded, it shows Radiohead in the studio. I can't really find it online:

And finally, Radiohead is one of my favourite bands. This isn't everything, but a lot of what I have by them:

Hopefully recording the next episode this weekend. It'll be a blast, and thanks for listening!

-Joe.
