Artist: The Libertines.

Album: Up The Bracket.

Show notes: Kind of a blast from the past this week: A wealth of material on the table, like the days of yore. Stuff even I'd forgotten that I had brought. I used to talk about The Libertines quite a bit with Graham Coxon. As mentioned, he was the one who got me into them. Shame there is no bands around like this anymore.

Show notes: Yep. We "forgot," Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through The Strip. Basically, the damage my CD has made it unlistenable, so my apologies. Well worth a listen, though.

The List. Great to see PJ Harvey was on there.

Aside from that, there's nothing I can really lead you to, that can't be found online, easily. Go hunt and enjoy!

LP Lexicon Podcast 038: Different Class by Pulp album commentary.

Episode: 038
iTunes
Stitcher
Download: Link.

Artist: Pulp.

Album: Different Class.

Show notes: Ahh .. Two Roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less travelled, and that has made all the difference.

Different Class is an album which has huge commercial success on these shores, and had huge critical acclaim, and has aged magnificently. Surely, this is what all artists everywhere strive to achieve, and only few can actually accomplish.

When I listen to Sorted for E's and Wizz, it takes me to that University dorm room, and I remember a time in my life where I realised I was getting older, becoming slightly more popular amongst my circle of friends, and beginning to take the next steps on the road which we now know is life.

Sorted for E's and Wizz was one of the last tracks I liked before I liked music, and it's stuck with me all of these years.

Here is the video which gives me motion sickness. Does it for you?

Pulp - Do You Remember The First Time?

Pulp - Reading 2011.

'Njoy!

Lexicon Towers has items purchased from:

El Ateneo, Buenos Aires.

Musimundo, Argentina.

Sonar Tienda, Santiago.
Modern Sound, Rio de Janiero.

LP Lexicon Podcast 033: Kevin Smith's Mallrats OST.

Episode: 032
iTunes
Stitcher
Download: Link.

Artist: Kevin Smith.

Album: Mallrats.

Show notes: I'm watching Mallrats right now! I often put something connected to the episode on, as I edit/upload. Last night I was watching Live Forever (As we've been on a huge Blur kick), which put me onto mid-90's culture. Live Forever is 98% British culture related, and it got me thinking about American 90's music and attitudes, immortalised here on the Mallrats OST.

Really want to investigate more Belly. Need more 4AD. I'm sure there will be more than that on the Lexicon Pod in the coming weeks.

People stop listening to new music at 33. (Episode number entirely coincidental).

Joe and Kevin Smith (Hammersmith, 2014).

Mike Bell, Jason Mewes and Joe (Hammersmith, 2014).

LP Lexicon Podcast 031: The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

Episode: 031
iTunes
Stitcher
Download: Link.

Artist: Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Album: The Boatman's Call.

Show notes: When there is a band/artist with a huge back catalogue such as this, I always feel two things; elated, as I have a wealth of awesome to discover, and worried, as I know how much of a collector I am, and how I like to own everything.

Even the aforementioned b-sides and rarities comp, which I forgot I had, has turned up with some jewels. I've got to go back over it and see what I've been missing out.

Into My Arms.

(Are You) The One I've Been Waiting For?

Stranger Than Kindness.

Stranger Than Kindness isn't from The Boatman's Call, but I love it so much, I thought I'd like it here.

Greetz!

Show notes: Absolutely honoured and thrilled to have Mike, Andy and Paul of the Attack of the 50ft Nerds podcast, a podcast which I hold dear to my heart, here at Lexicon Towers to discuss The War of the Worlds. Really glad Paul was here to fill me in on a myriad of Jeff Wayne facts which I never knew.

The War of the Worlds is not really known in the States, but it's a staple of your dads record collection here in the UK. For those not in the know, I'll provide you The Eve of the War:

The Eve of the War.

If you are so inclined, go dig out that ol' LP. It's well worth it.

Edit: Paul has provided us with this image of his War of the Worlds things found in the loft:

Show notes: Wife and I are watching the Supergrass documentary on the DVD we discussed, and it's really riveting stuff. If possible, it's worth checking out. This album, as mentioned, takes me back to when I was a teenager, walking around Liverpool, with this on my headphones.

Supergrass - Going Out.

Supergrass - Richard III.

Supergrass - Sun Hits The Sky.
